POEM: LOOK FEAR IN THE FACE

Look Fear in the Face
It’s time to look Fear in the face and grab him by the neck,
that bully who reduces you into a nervous wreck.
He fills you with self-doubt, but you should know that he is lying,
when all the while, down deep inside him, he’s the one who’s crying.

It’s time to befriend Courage and invite her out for drinks,
She’ll be quite clear about that scoundrel Fear and how he stinks.
So let her be beside you when you come to meet with Fear.
You’ll find she’s very calming and it’s good to have her near.

Miss Courage will stand up for you when others are judgemental,
and she's the one who'll cheer you on to reach your full potential.
In cases of attachment, she'll assist you to let go;
and with respect to discipline, she’ll teach you to say no.

Courage won’t abandon you in times of hesitation
even though some days you re-assess your motivation.
Now she'll replace bravado with the truest bravery;
and soon you’ll find you’ve been set free from chains of slavery.

Babies are making babies. Statistically, teenage pregnancy has been on a rapid increase globally so it's not just a demographic issue anymore. Modernization sure is a factor, young people these days are not as naive as they use to be in the 50s, 60s or 70s. The social media, the playground of all young people have become a major challenge. The unstable economy, instability in the polity, the crazy level of unemployment, have all contributed to the rising statistic of teenage pregnancy. In all of this, parents are at the centre of it all, parents scratching to make a Living an...
